Supporting ex-pupils after they leave Breckenbrough
In the 1960's a separate charity was started to maintain contact and support pupils after they leave the school. The school employs a part time Aftercare Officer who is involved in the schools careers advice programme. He attends case reviews where he meets parents and is closely involved in the transition of Year 11 boys into life outside Breckenbrough. Where necessary he meets parents at home and will accompany pupils to interviews and suggest support to the external authorities as required.
The Aftercare Officer maintains regular contact with many past pupils through the phone and internet. Ex-pupils will also be able to contact each other through the web site.
There is a small budget available to help past pupils who need practical support. Donations are available to past pupils who would like financial support for a specific project. This is done through an application to the Aftercare committee via the After Care Officer.
Old boys are welcome to return and visit. In addition many past students keep in touch with certain staff after they leave. Some develop friendships after they leave.
