Bernard comes to the Board under North Yorkshire County Council’s scheme to keep councillors in touch with schools in the area. He lives at Melmerby and chairs a Media / advertising Group, the Think Tank. He is County Councillor for Ripon North under the Conservative banner and chairs the County’s Harrogate District Committee. He is married with two sons and four grand-daughters.
At Breckenbrough he is a member of our Marketing Committee where his experience and wide range of contacts in the business and political worlds are of use. He is also able to keep us aware of services that may be available to us – free – from the County Council. His particular interests in the school are its ethics and the attention all our staff and the school give to the pupils put into its charge.
Bernard seems to be on endless other Committees and Boards, despite having had open heart surgery in 2009, but remains permanently cheerful and optimistic. His watchword is – never worry about things as you achieve far less.
