Social Emotional Mental Health Support

Well-being at the heart of our approach

The supporting of positive well-being is at the heart of our approach to social education at Breckenbrough. We respect that a pupil’s mental well-being can change, from day to day, month to month or year to year and that the pupils that attend Breckenbrough often have complex needs that can contribute to negative impacts on mental well-being. Mental and emotional well-being is relative to how a pupil is feeling and how well they can cope with day-to-day life. At Breckenbrough we seek to create an environment in which a pupil can:

  • feel confident in themselves
  • be treated with respect and unconditional positive regard
  • feel able to positively express a range of emotions
  • feel engaged with the school and the world around them and enabled to build and maintain positive relationships with other people and feel they can contribute to the school community
  • live and work productively
  • be supported to cope with the stresses of daily life and manage times of change and uncertainty
