Social Guidance & Conflict Resolution

Within our social guidance and conflict resolution sessions, we work with the boys in supporting their variety of needs. Each session is purely centred around the boy and his specific needs via some of the following focused activities:

Social Interaction

  • Modelling
  • Mirroring
  • Roleplay
  • Friendships

Social Communication

  • Facial expressions
  • Tone
  • Personal space
  • Exploring reading and understanding feelings and emotions

Reciprocal Skills

  • Sharing
  • Taking it in turns
  • Conversational procedures

Games and Social Conversation

A positive support programme, including playing games, helps in learning to take turns, ask questions, relax, win with humility and lose with grace.

Reflecting on Behaviour

We look at how each student’s behaviour has been during a week and then explore strategies to support them within school. We particularly help boys to adapt and make changes in how they do things. A key element of this is mediating conflict resolution between students. This is taken at their pace, with a view  to resolving any difficulties.
