Hill walking and land based activities

Hill walking and other land based activities are the foundation for most activities, these also include welly walks and adventure walks. Although hill walking and related activities are simple they prove to be a firm favourite with many students. The simplicity of hill walking is not only good for your physical health, it can give you the time and space to improve mental well-being, gives the opportunity to talk to peers and form friendships. The challenge of walking up a hill and reaching the summit provides an enormous amount of personal achievement, it shows character, highlighting resilience and determination. These activities enable students to celebrate their personal achievements and that of the rest of the group. While out on the hill students will to learn navigation skills, using of a map and compass.

We take the opportunities to learn about local history, flora, fauna and wildlife.
